One of the most inspiring posts I see on my many author forums is when someone takes the time to share their story. Each Friday, I’m going to feature a different indie author to help inspire all of you!

What is your pen name?
What genre do you write in? Why do you love it?
Horror. It allows you to explore the bizarre and the strange, opening up realms of fear that other genres cannot explore.
How many books have you published?
What inspired you to become a writer?
My vivid imagination. There are so many ideas circulating. Book writing allows me to explore them in a way that no other medium could.
What is your indie success story?
Getting my first book published through Amazon. I spent two years writing the book while being a carer for a loved-one. I’ve struggled with my own mental health but managed to succeed.
What are your marketing and advertising strategies? What works for you? What doesn’t?
I promote my books through social media. I find Reddit and Goodreads very useful. Although I was able to gain over 1000 followers on Twitter I didn’t really get anywhere with promoting. In the past two months, I’ve had over 100 downloads on my books from using Reddit alone.
What is the best piece of self-publishing advice that you’ve ever received?
Every professional writer, was an amateur who didn’t quit.
Anything else fun or notable that you would like to share about yourself?
I am a father of three (soon to be 4). I’ve played games for twenty years and would call myself a diehard Linkin Park fan.
What are you working on right now?
IMy third book. It should be published this month!
Where can we find your work?

Have you written a book, but have struggled to get the formatting right using basic word processing programs?
Have you spent countless hours uploading a book into a self-publishing platform only to have it look messy and unprofessional?
Stop wasting your precious time and head over to Formatted Books.
Formatted books will help you and publish the best looking books possible. Their goal is to personalize each book to help it stand out in order to help you maximize sales. This is so important for indies, because we’re competing with professionally produced books.
In fact, they are so confident in the quality of their work that they back it with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
They are working on something for me right now, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Finding a cover designer is hard work.
Not only do you have to find designers that design for your genre, but you also have to vet them to make sure they are professional, you have to make sure they aren’t booked out.
You need to go to different websites, Facebook groups, and Instagram accounts to compare their work with other designers. OR you go to sites like Reedsy, and when you search for someone in your genre, it only yields a single designer. (Yes, this is the case for cozy mystery.) It’s sometimes like looking for a needle in a haystack.
I’m excited to announce the solution! The Cover Designer Directory.
