Indie Author Spotlight – David Campbell

One of the most inspiring posts I see on my many author forums is when someone takes the time to share their story. Each Friday, I’m going to feature a different indie author to help inspire all of you!

What is your pen name?

David Campbell

What genre do you write in?

How many books have you published?

What inspired you to become a writer?

It’s the only thing I was ever good at! Ideas just pop into my head and I can detail them with words. I’ve been writing since I was 10.

What is your indie success story?

I made $1000 and took my girlfriend away for the weekend. I told her we had to try and spend exactly $1000 and not a dollar more or less. We ended up over by $12 but it was memorable and symbolic for me.

What are your marketing and advertising strategies?

I wing it. I have tried and will try anything – Facebook and Amazon ads, book promotions on dozens of sites, word of mouth. The one thing I want to try is to set up a booth in the lobby of my local library and give away copies with the promise of a review (either good or bad).

What are you working on right now?

I published my fourth book on July 15, 2020 and just started on my fifth. It’s about a family that moves into a house that they unintentionally realize was previously owned by a mass murderer who has left clues to his crimes behind.
